Carseat Safety

Motor vehicle accidents were one of the leading causes of death for American children under the age of 12 in 2019, with more than one third of those deaths being children who were not properly restrained in a car seat. The goal of this infographic is to convince parents of the need to have their children properly secured in a car seat, and give them the information and resources they need to make that happen. Each of the main segments were designed to work independently as well as in the context of the full infographic.

THE EXTENDED PARALLEL PROCESSING MODEL

Often called fear management, this model of persuasion looks at how audiences react to a message about a potential threat. When using this model to craft a persuasive message, you attempt to convince your target audience of the severity of the danger, their susceptibility to it, the effectiveness of your proposed solution, and their ability to successfully practice that solution. I also found it important to avoid evoking strong feelings of fear or guilt that could cause the audience to shut down and ignore the problem, rather than act on it.
