Munchbox

A mobile app prototype

Even at a time when more people are working and attending school remotely than ever, many people take their lunch break away from their homes- and kitchens. When options to buy lunch are often limited, unappetizing, inconvenient, or expensive, bringing a packed lunch can sound appealing- if one has the time, energy, and ability to plan ahead. MunchBox can help with that by providing easy meal ideas, basic nutritional information, an in-app shopping list, and other resources to help users plan and prep lunches ahead of time. While other recipe and meal planning apps provide more complex recipes that require access to a kitchen, Munchbox offers meal ideas suitable for on-the-go meals and a wide variety of skill and time constraints.

 Project Timeline

The project was completed during the Fall 2022 semester, alongside regular coursework.

User Research

Research is an essential part of my design process, whether it takes the form of finding inspiration, creating user personas and flows, conducting interviews and surveys, or observations. For this project, I constructed personas, identified my target audience, and conducted interviews to determine the app’s features and design. After completing the prototype, I revisited my research and conducted user testing, using the data I gathered to make revisions.
